Top Honours for Nadeem in Faldo Series Pakistan Championship

Lahore, Pakistan (September 24): Nadeem Aslam defeated M. Minhaj Maqsood Warraich in a tense play-off to claim the most notable win of his career and bring an end to the dominant Faldo Series Pakistan Championship reign of Mubariz Ahmad.

Bidding for a fourth successive triumph in the World Amateur Golf Ranking event that is among the highlights on the annual Pakistani golfing calendar, Mubariz was upstaged by Nadeem and Minhaj at the Defence Raya Golf & Country Club.

George Arthur Faldo, father of golf's six-time Major Champion and former World #1,  Sir Nick Faldo passed away today of natural causes.

He was born on May 11, 1926 in Poplar, London to Charlie and Harriet Faldo.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Smalley Faldo; his son, Nicholas Alexander Faldo; his sister, Dolly Faldo Slywockji; his grandchildren, Natalie, Matthew, Georgia and Emma Faldo and his extended family and friends Gill Faldo, Valerie Faldo, Diana and Daniel Desmond; Linda and Del Bingley and LeslieAnne Wade.

22 August 2014: Czech Republic’s Patrik Jericha celebrated victory in the final European event of the 2014 season with two level-par rounds of 72 at the Black Stork Golf Resort, a PGA golf course in Velka Lomnica.  The 19-year-old, who has also played Faldo Series events in Czech Republic and Austria this year beat Slovakian pair Adam Puchmelter and Jan Friesz to the title after the event was reduced to 36 holes due to flooding.

Bower breezes to Faldo Series victory at Hollinwell

21 August 2014: Jamie Bower of Meltham fired a superb final round 66 to complete an emphatic wire-to-wire victory in the Faldo Series England Midlands Championship at Hollinwell Golf Club. The England squad member, who won a Faldo Series UK Championship at Hollinwell in 2011, led after each of the first two days with rounds of 70 and 71 before closing out victory with a six-under 66.

Local boy Gradecki grabs Series glory in Poland

18 August 2014: Mateusz Gradecki cruised to victory in the second Faldo Series Poland Championship on his home course – Gradi Golf Club in Brzeźno. Gradecki beat compatriot Adrian Meronk to the title by eight shots after a superb second round 64 all but sealed the tournament’s outcome with 18 holes to play.

Timo tames Faldo course to seal Series victory in Germany

14 August 2014: Timo Valenkamp was victorious in the fitfh Faldo Series Germany Championship at the A-ROSA Scharmützelsee Sporting Club Berlin in Bad Saarow. The 16-year-old fired rounds of 72 and 67 on the Faldo Course to finish on five-under par, three clear of the chasing pack.

“It is a great honour to win this event and I am very excited about going to The Greenbrier in October, it will be my first ever trip to the USA,” said Valenkamp. “I want to learn as much as I can from Sir Nick and all the other experts and make the most of this opportunity to improve my game.”

Faldo Series set for final stop of the UK season at Hollinwell

12 August 2014: The Faldo Series will conclude its UK season next week when it returns to Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) on August 18-20. A full field of 82 boys and 11 girls has already been confirmed for the 54-hole England Midlands Championship.

Hong Kong (August 5): Kitty Tam Yik-ching kept her cool in the heat of battle, producing a sizzling birdie spree en route to retaining her Faldo Series Hong Kong Championship crown.                            

With temperatures soaring into the mid-30s, Tam’s game caught fire as she posted a scintillating second round of five-under-par 68 over the demanding North Course at the Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Course.

Roos rallies to win Faldo Series Netherlands title

29 July 2014: Roos Haarman rallied to win the fifth Faldo Series Netherlands Championship, birdieing her final hole for a one stroke victory over 2013 Champion Severiano Prins. 16-year-old Haarman closed with a three under-par 69 at BurgGolf Herkenbosch to seal her spot in a third straight Grand Final.

Prins, who took a two shot lead in to the final round, finished with a level-par 72. That meant the 19-year-old was denied another overall title but he still booked a spot in his third Grand Final by winning the Boys-Under-21 division.

In-Form Duo Primed for Faldo Series Hong Kong Championship

15 July 2014: Austria’s Clemens Gaster held off a strong international challenge to win his national Faldo Series Championship at the Waidhofen Golf Resort. The 21-year-old closed with a final round 71 to pip overnight leader Kristyna Frydlova - who won the Girls’ Under-21 division, to the overall title.

Gaster can now look forward to making his Faldo Series Grand Final debut at The Greenbrier in October whilst Frydlova will be lining up in her second successive final in West Virginia later on this year.

Cao’s Late Charge to Victory at Faldo Series Shanghai Championship

Shanghai, China (July 8): Cao Sen produced a sensational finish to claim a thrilling victory in the seventh edition of the Faldo Series Shanghai Championship. 

Defying heavy rain, Cao followed up a birdie-two at the short 17th at Suzhou Taihu International Golf Club by holing a long putt for an eagle-three at the home hole to clinch an unlikely one-stroke success.

Thanks to that dramatic late flourish, Cao signed for a closing one-under-par 71 to go with his first-round 73.

Dongguan, China (July 7): Shih Chun-yu will be the player to beat when the Faldo Series China Championship tees-off at Mission Hills Golf Club on Wednesday.

The Chinese Taipei teenager is returning to the scene of his runaway success last year in a bid to once more qualify for the Asia Grand Final, to be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at Mission Hills next March.

2 July 2014: Marie Lunackova held off a strong challenge from Simon Zach to win the fourth Faldo Series Czech Republic Championship at the Telc Golf Resort. The 18-year-old Czech fired a flawless seven-under par 65 on route to a two shot victory over Zach, who pipped Vitek Novak to the Boys’ Under-18 title with a final round 68.

Taipei, Chinese Taipei (July 1): Chen Ching-tzu underlined her reputation as one of the region’s most promising female golfing prospects with a thrilling victory in the Faldo Series Chinese Taipei Championship.

Belying her tender years, the 13-year-old snared a final-hole birdie to claim a one-stroke success from Wu Yi-ching in the 54-hole event at Sunrise Golf and Country Club.

30 June 2014: Slovakia’s Jakub Hrinda booked his spot in a third straight Grand Final with victory in the second Faldo Series Italy Championship at Golf Club Toscana, Tuscany. Hrinda ground out a three shot victory with rounds of 70 and 71 to set up a return to The Greenbrier in October.

Joining 14-year-old Hrinda at the eighteenth Faldo Series Grand Final will be Austria’s Emma Spitz, winner of the Girls’ Division and last year’s inaugural winner of the Italy Championship Elena Pagni, who finished in second place.

Faldo Series delight for Davidson at Panmure

27 June 2014: Andrew Davidson of Charleton won the Faldo Series Scotland Championship by two shots to secure a spot in his second successive Grand Final. The 20-year-old closed with a one-over par round of 71 to win by two from overnight co-leaders Niall Mcmullen (Lundin) and Calum Fyfe (Cawder).

“I’m buzzing to be going back to The Greenbrier, I can’t wait,” said an elated Davidson. “This win gets me a World Amateur Golf Ranking too, which was one of my main goals at the start of the season.”

Sir Nick Faldo Selected as 2015 Memorial Tournament Honoree

The Captains Club have announced that six-time major championship winner Sir Nick Faldo has been selected as the Honoree for the 2014 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance, the 40th playing of the Tournament founded by Jack Nicklaus in 1976.  In addition, golfing greats Dorothy Campbell, Jerome Dustan Travers and Walter Travis will be honored posthumously. 

Boettcher bags South America title in Brazil

20 May 2014: Rohan Boettcher shot a final round 72 to complete a wire-to-wire victory in the seventh Faldo Series South America Championship at Belem Novo Golf Club in Brazil.  The 15-year-old Brazilian will now have the chance to compete in a PGA Tour Latino America event later this year.

Boettcher also secured a spot in the 18th Faldo Series Grand Final alongside compatriots Herik Machado (Boys’ Under-18) and Carolina Yamada (Girls’ Under-21). The Brazilian trio will all make their Grand Final debuts at The Greenbrier in October.

24 April 2014: Jamie Dick of Forest Hills shot a final round 69 to complete a wire-to-wire victory in the Faldo Series Wales Championship at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club in Bridgend. The 18-year-old equalled the course record of 66 in each of his first two rounds on route to a dominant thirteen shot win.  

“I played great all week and I am really pleased to have shot the course record twice on my way to victory,” commented Dick who also won the prestigious Darwin Salver in March. “I’ve never been to the USA before so I am very excited about going to The Greenbrier in October.”

Brewster bags Faldo Series title at Moortown

10 April 2014: Ben Brewster of Bawtry won the Faldo Series England North Championship with a playoff victory over Hexam’s Matty Lamb at Moortown Golf Club in Yorkshire. Brewster and Lamb could not be separated after 54 holes of regulation play, both finishing at five-over par on 218 before Brewster birdied the first extra hole to capture the overall title.

Collins conquers record field in Ireland

3 April 2014: Ted Collins won the seventh Faldo Series Ireland Championship by four shots after rounds of 70 and 71 at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland.  Collins from Dun Laoghaire beat 154 competitors to the title, the largest ever field for the event.

“This is my fifth Faldo Series and I have been so close a couple times before so it feels great to finally win,” said a delighted Collins. “This was the perfect way to start my season and going to The Greenbrier in October and meeting Sir Nick will be a great way to end it.”

Tufail tops international field in Abu Dhabi

24 March 2014: Sana Tufail overcame a record field in Abu Dhabi to win the second Faldo Series Middle East Championship at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club (AESGC). The 17-year-old from England charged to victory with a superb bogey-free 64 on the final day.

“This is a great victory for me and I am really looking forward to The Greenbrier now,” said Tufail who will join Sir Nick Faldo at the 18th Faldo Series Grand Final in October. “I had a putting lesson with Keith Wood last night which made a big difference to my performance on the greens today.”

Kinnear of England eyes historic victory in China

12 March 2014, Shenzhen, China: Paul Kinnear of England will take a two shot lead into the final round of the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final. 20-year-old Kinnear from Lancashire goes into tomorrow’s final round at Mission Hills Golf Club bidding to become the first European to be crowned Faldo Series Asia Champion.

Kinnear carded a second round 71 on the Faldo Course to reach seven-under par for the tournament. Two shots behind is Japan’s Mikumu Horikawa who posted a three-under par 69, the joint best score of the day.

5 February 2014: Putt Sridama of Thailand won the sixth Faldo Series Thailand Championship by three shots at the Panorama Golf and Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima. Sridama fired rounds of 70 and 69 to claim one of the remaining five Grand Final spots that were on offer.

Ahmad completes Faldo Series hat-trick in Pakistan

31 January 2014: Mubariz Ahmad won his third Faldo Series Pakistan Championship with a fourteen-shot victory at Defence Authority Country and Golf Club in Karachi.  The 18-year-old was one of four Pakistani golfers to qualify for the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in China.  

Karachi local Ahmad carded rounds of 72, 73 and 77 to finish an incredible fourteen shots ahead of Boys’ Under-21 winner Muhammad Umer Khokhar.  Ahmad and Khokhar qualify for the eighth Asia Grand Final which Sir Nick Faldo will host at Mission Hills Golf Club in China, March 11-13.

Eagle at 18 gives Yuan Faldo Series Kunming victory

30 January 2013: Yuan Hung Tsai eagled the last to win the seventh Faldo Series Kunming Championship in style at Lakeview Golf Club in Yunnan Province, China.  18-year-old Yuan was one of five competitors to qualify for the Asia Grand Final in March.

Yuan added a 72 to his opening 73 on the Faldo Design course in Kunming to win by four from 14-year-old Xiang Sui, who won a competitive girls’ division.  The Chinese pair both earned a start in the eighth Asia Grand Final, to be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen in March.

Tamardi trounces Faldo Series field in Jakarta

22 January 2014: Tirto Tamardi fired a closing 70 to secure a dominant victory in the seventh Faldo Series Indonesia Championship at the Damai Indah Golf BSD Course in West Java. 14-year-old Tamardi was one of five golfers to qualify for the Asia Grand Final in March.

Tamardi added a 70 to a superb opening round 63, which included nine birdies and no dropped shots to win by seven from Kevin Akbar.  Tamardi’s 54-hole total of 13-under 203 is the lowest score in relation to par this Faldo Series Asia season.
