ISPS teams up with the Faldo Series to promote worthy causes in Asia
April 27, 2010: The International Sports Promotion Society (ISPS) has signed a three year deal to become a Major Partner of the Faldo Series Asia with immediate effect.
This new support will enable the Faldo Series Asia and its founder Sir Nick Faldo to continue providing opportunities through golf to young people in Asia and to further help to develop the region’s next generation of champions.
For ISPS and its chairman, Dr Haruhisa Handa, a Japanese philanthropist and businessman, the partnership with the Faldo Series Asia will allow his organisation to further raise awareness of its main charitable recipients, including the International Blind Golf Association, across Asia.
Dr Handa said, “This agreement is a very positive step forward for the work that both organisations do for the development of golf at every level in Asia. ISPS is pleased to be supporting Sir Nick’s Faldo Series, especially as these young golfers will eventually become role models for the game in the future. At the same time this is a good opportunity to showcase some of the other worthy causes which ISPS is supporting.”
Six-time Major winner Faldo said, “The support from ISPS will be a huge boost to our Asian schedule and we are extremely proud and grateful to be associated with an organisation that, like the Faldo Series, aims to bring golf to everyone whatever their background or circumstance.
Through the Faldo Series, we are dedicated to giving young golfers an opportunity to reach their full potential and, in the case of former winners such as Rory McIlroy, Nick Dougherty and Yani Tseng, help to nurture a new generation of Tour professionals. But just as important to our partners and us is creating access to the game at the grass-roots level.”
Dr Handa, who has also been appointed as an Official Ambassador of the Faldo Series Asia added, “It is a real pleasure to be acknowledged in this manner. One of the most important activities of ISPS is to bring golf to people who are not as fortunate as us. The current focus for ISPS is the promotion of the International Blind Golf Association in addition to promoting golf in the fast developing nations of Asia.”
ISPS joins The R&A and Mission Hills Golf Club as a Major Partner of the Faldo Series Asia which enters its fifth season in 2010/2011. Also supported by golf wear partner Alpine Creations and endorsed by the Asian Tour and the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, a record Faldo Series Asia schedule of 17 tournaments in 12 different countries will commence in Beijing, China on May 18. It then visits The Philippines, Singapore, China four more times, Vietnam, Bahrain, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and Thailand before concluding with the fifth Faldo Series Asia Grand Final staged on the Faldo Course at Mission Hills Golf Club, Shenzhen, China, the following March.
